PRIZM LightTurn PCB assemblies

The low profile design of the PRIZM® LightTurn® connector allows for simple assembly on Avago modules and optimises air-flow. Designed as a miniature detachable connector for high speed, board mounted Avago MicroPOD® and MiniPOD® modules, it offers high I/O density directly on a PCB. The PRIZM® LightTurn® connector provides passive alignment and novel retention features allowing multiple re-matings perpendicular to the PCB.  The connector consists of a multi-fiber ferrule with a photonic turn TIR (total internal reflection) lens array. This provides excellent coupling to high bandwidth mini-parallel optic modules.
    PRIZM® assemblies for MiniPOD® and MicroPOD® module interconnections can be produced either with flat ribbon cables or jacketed round cables. Flat ribbon cables offer a lower profile with high module density, while round cables offer more flexible routing and ruggedized fiber protection. 
    SYLEX manufactures custom-designed assemblies using the PRIZM® LightTurn® connector in combination with the MTP® connector to provide a significant increase in card edge port density compared to conventionally used QSFP modules or parallel active optical cables on the card edge.
