Mountable Strain Sensor MS-01

Mountable Strain Sensor MS-01

The mountable strain sensor measures the deformation between its anchoring points. The fiber optic sensor is fixed inside ruggedized housing that is connected to anchors using nuts. Anchors are bolted in concrete or welded to metal constructions. Nuts are also used to apply pre-tension on the sensor to monitor both compression and elongation. The distance between both anchoring points can be adjusted between 70 and 100 mm. The sensor has fiber optic cables at both ends in order to make series configurations possible.

Features

  • Detection of displacements and strains with sub-micrometer precision
  • Fiber with high breaking strength: ≥ 5% strain
  • Monitoring of compression and tension
  • Sensors can be placed in series and hereby reducing the cabling to a minimum
  • Optional temperature compensation via optical fiber temperature sensor in series
  • Watertight and ruggedized housing, applicable in harsh environments
  • No calibration needed on installation
  • Extended temperature operating range
  • Easy surface mountable
  • Embeddable in concrete
