Fiber Polishing for Single and Ribbon Fiber Structures

We have recently enhanced our production capabilities with equipment for angle polishing of optical fibers, covering both individual fibers and ribbon fiber structures. This gives us more flexibility in meeting the requirements of custom fiber optic assemblies used in a wide range of applications.

The equipment supports polishing angles from 0° up to 45°, allowing us to reduce back reflections and improve overall signal integrity where angled end-faces are required.

We currently process ribbon fibers with 8, 12, or 16 fibers, which are widely used in high-density interconnects, optical transceivers, and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) packaging. Polished ribbon ends ensure low insertion loss and high consistency, especially in fiber array terminations and other multi-channel optical interfaces.

Polished individual fibers are used in various specialized applications such as optical sensing, aerospace systems, R&D setups, or custom test assemblies, where angled polishing helps optimize signal return or reduce interface losses.

This in-house capability gives us better control over the polishing process and allows us to offer custom-tailored polishing for both standard and non-standard configurations – even for low and medium volume projects.
